The Rev. Scott A. Mims, is a graduate
of Clemson University with a B. S. degree in Chemical Engineering.
Prior to entering seminary he worked as a Process Engineer in
Louisiana and South Carolina. In 1998 he graduated from Lutheran
Theological Southern Seminary with a Masters of Divinity Degree. He
was ordained in 1998 at Messiah Lutheran Church, Mauldin, SC. Pastor
Mims served in the Northwest Pennsylvania Synod were he served
Bethany Lutheran Church in Sheffield and Moriah Lutheran Church in
Ludlow. In 2002 he accepted the position as Associate Pastor at St.
John Lutheran Church, Roanoke, Virginia. In addition to preaching
and general pastoral care, his areas of oversight at St. John
included youth and young adult ministries, stewardship,.
Confirmation, and the Alpha ministry. He was also involved in the
marriage ministry group and is a trained small group leader. He is
trained as a Healthy Congregations Facilitator for the Virginia
Synod and is active in the Synod’s ACTS program as a small group
leader.
The Rev. Cathy J. Mims, is a graduated
of Indiana University with a B.A. degree in Comparative Literature.
In 1998 she received her Masters of Divinity from Lutheran
Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC. having been ordained
the same year. Her first call was in the Northwest Pennsylvania
Synod where she served Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Tionesta, PA.
In 2002 she accepted a call from St. John Lutheran Church, Roanoke,
Va, where she oversaw Small Group Ministry. She also headed up the
Marriage Ministry in the congregation. She served on the steering
committee for Roots and Wings, a committee of the Virginia Synod
focused on equipping parents to nurture the faith of their children
in the home, and is trained as a Healthy Congregations Facilitator.
She also is helping to develop a series of workshops called “Healthy
Parents, Healthy Children”, which seek to transfer the concepts from
Healthy Congregations into Healthy Families. |
